The world's first concrete roof tile production plant setup for research and development

Between 1998 and 1999, Rank Roofing built a fully automatic production plant for manufacturing concrete roof tiles for its own test purposes. The production plant was commissioned in the fall of 1999 with a production output of 60 concrete roof tiles/minute. Over a period of three years, the production plant was used to optimise every phase of the production process. The main focus of the development was optimising the extrusion of the concrete roof tiles. Rank Roofing has invested an enormous amount of research and development in the extrusion process in order to offer its clients as much flexiblity as possible. Experiments with various surface treatments and coatings, e.g. slurry (Australian and Asian markets) or micro-concrete coatings (European market), has brought us priceless knowledge in a very short period of time.

The pilot plant has since been sold.
